Working in Coimbatore
Main employers in Coimbatore: textiles and spinning mills, pumps and motors, engineering and foundries, IT. Engineering and pump makers sit in the SIDCO and Kurichi industrial estates, mills are spread around the city and nearby Tiruppur, and IT offices are clustered in Saravanampatti and the Tidel Park area.
Technical roles here value hands-on skills – an ITI or diploma plus a few years on a shop floor can beat a degree with no practical work.
